ABOUT STEPHANIE COLSTON
Stephanie Colston is Denver’s most elite, award-winning stylist. Founder and Owner of Sassy Shears Beauty Salon, also the owner of a salon in Europe. She has served Denver for 24 years with more than 400 clients.
Stephanie has gained an international reputation for possessing exceptional skills, professionalism, and vision. This has led to her being the most sought-after haircare service provider for celebrities, high profile business entrepreneurs, and entertainers including Denver’s professional NFL and NBA players, many of whom travel near and far to receive her consistent, one-of-a-kind haircare.
Stephanie believes that haircare should be a collaborative effort between hairstylist and the client.
Her niche that sets her apart involves a clientele of women who have experienced hair loss, caused primarily by “traction alopecia”: hair loss from the tension exerted by styles like braids, extensions (with the hair braided underneath) and wigs. Stephanie is convinced that increased wig and weave wear since the early 2000s has caused a widespread hair loss epidemic amongst black women.
“I am not anti-weave,” she said. “I’m just trying to spread the word about an issue.”
Most of Stephanie’s clients started with severe hair and scalp problems. She very quickly realized that many of the commercial hair care products her clients were using were inferior, some even damaging their hair and scalp.
